Mr C.A. Ford, better known to the furniture industry as the inventor of the twin wheel castor, established Caford Pty Ltd in 1944 as an engineering based company supplying components to the Australian Defence Department.
Subsequently the company manufactured a range of propelling pencils until 1957 when Mr C.A. Ford invented and then manufactured the world’s first twin wheel castor and Caford’s long involvement with the furniture industry began.
Today, the Caford Group of companies, run by his sons Laurie and Wayne is a well-known producer of office furniture under structures, including the castors for which they are perhaps best known.
